mPhase Technologies Announces New Features to System that Delivers Interactive TV Service over Digital Subscriber Lines

New mPhase TV+ System Enables Phone Companies Around the World to Generate Revenues With New Offerings and Electronic Program Guide.

NORWALK, Conn. -Aug. 3, 2004- mPhase Technologies (OTC: XDSL) today announced a second-generation release of its mPhase TV+ System, now enabling network operators around the world to offer interactive, high quality selected services over telephone wires equipped to support digital subscriber line (DSL) services.

The new release of mPhase TV + System delivers 250 high quality video entertainment channels, allowing phone companies to now provide an effective interactive TV alternative to cable or satellite service providers. Moreover, its new Electronic Program Guide allows consumers to order premium time-shifted content provided through a fully tested video server from Kasenna, a leading provider of software for video network management and delivery.

The upgraded system increases to 1000 the number of subscribers served by a single Lucent Stinger (R) Access Concentrator DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer).

As part of Release 2.0, the mPhase TV+ System features an upgraded set top box that enhances remote maintenance and operation for service provider technicians. The mPhase TV+ set top box functions as an intelligent network interface (INI) with an integrated DSL modem providing Internet access and broadband services, including digital television. Available on-screen menus are provided in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.

"Phone companies will get more value from their networks and are now better positioned to bring in new revenue thanks to our new release. The electronic program guide allows the DSL network operator to now offer premium video selections close to video on demand for a very affordable and easy-to-implement architecture," said Phil Thompson, mPhase Technologies executive vice president- Product Management. "By working closely with partners like SkyStream Networks for the video encoding using their MediaPlex video services headend and Kasenna as a VOD provider, mPhase is able to deliver fully-tested, tightly integrated solutions designed to alleviate the anxiety expressed by phone companies about TV service deployment."

He noted that the turnkey system incorporates end-to-end management through a single central-office based control system, the SMS. From this system network personnel can manage subscribers, monitor alarm messages and billing information and seek context-sensitive help.

mPhase Technologies said that the new features will be available for deployment in September.
